Data Validation

Definition

A feature that restricts what values can be entered into a cell. In Google Sheets, access it via Data > Data validation. Common uses include dropdown menus for expense categories, date pickers for transaction dates, and number ranges for budget amounts. Data validation prevents data entry errors that would break formulas and ensures consistency across the spreadsheet.
