Invoice
Definition
A document sent by a seller to a buyer requesting payment for goods or services. A proper invoice includes: invoice number, date issued, payment due date, seller and buyer contact information, itemized list of services or products, quantities, rates, subtotal, any applicable taxes, and total amount due. Freelancers should use sequential invoice numbering and consistent payment terms (net-15, net-30). Google Sheets invoicing templates automate calculations and maintain a record of all invoices issued.
